In order to enhance the understanding of national outstanding college students about the school characteristics of School of Public Finance and Public Administration of Jiangxi University of Finance and Economics, and to attract high-quality students to come to further their studies, the School held the Third National Outstanding College Students Summer Camp 2023 on July 9th. The camp attracted 46 outstanding college students from 37 colleges and universities inside and outside the province, including Henan University, Ningxia University, Jimei University, Ningbo University, Inner Mongolia University, Nanchang University, Jiangxi University of Finance and Economics, and other "double first-class" universities. Professor Xiong Xiaogang, vice president, presided over the opening ceremony.

The opening ceremony of the camp was held on the morning of July 9th. The campers watched the promotional video of Jiangxi University of Finance and Economics and School of Public Finance and Public Administration to have a more comprehensive understanding of the school and the college. Xiong Xiaogang, vice president of our school, welcomed the 46 outstanding students to the third summer camp of the school, and then briefly introduced the school and the school's schooling characteristics, especially focusing on the advantageous disciplines of the school. Vice President Xiong Xiaogang pointed out that the school motto spirit of "Faith, Sensitivity, Integrity and Perseverance", the striving spirit of "not willing to be mediocre, the pursuit of excellence" and the culture of Jiangcai alumni, which were formed during the long-term development of the school, have inspired generations of Jiangcai people to move forward, and we expect that students will pay further attention to Jiangcai, join us and work together. We expect students to pay more attention to Jiang Cai, join Jiang Cai, and witness the realization of the dream of Jiang Cai, a famous university in the century.

Next, Prof. Xiao Jianhua, supervisor leader of Finance, Prof. Wu Hong, supervisor leader of Master of Taxation, Prof. Ouyang Jing, supervisor leader of Administration, Prof. Dan Chenglong, supervisor leader of Land Resource Management, Prof. Zhu Xiaogang, supervisor leader of Educational Economics and Management, and Associate Prof. Peng Shuhong, representative of Social Security Supervisor, made a brief introduction of the six master's programs from the perspective of history of master's programs, disciplinary characteristics, faculty, professional reputation, cultivation objectives, safeguard conditions and development prospects, which enabled the campers to have a more in-depth understanding of master's programs of the college.

On the afternoon of July 9, Associate Dean Xiong Xiaogang gave a lecture on "Graduate Student Career Planning, Research Ability Cultivation and Hot Research Topics" to the campers. In the lecture, Associate Dean Xiong firstly shared his own experience of graduate school, and based on his own experience and many years of experience in supervising graduate students, he gave relevant advice to the campers on how to choose suitable majors and suitable supervisors, how to determine the direction of research, and how to formulate a study plan and plan for graduation, and other topics of concern to the campers. Secondly, Associate Dean Xiong focused on the comprehensive ability and scientific research ability that master's degree students should have. According to Associate Dean Xiong, an excellent graduate student should have five abilities, including strong sense of innovation, deep thinking ability, excellent time management ability, excellent adaptability, and good communication and expression ability. As a graduate student of economics and management, he should also have a systematic and comprehensive mastery of professional knowledge and basic skills in economic and management sciences, and be able to use professional knowledge and basic skills to deeply analyze and effectively solve various problems in economic management. According to Associate Dean Xiong, the scientific research ability of economics and management graduate students can be reflected through the process of academic papers, scientific research projects and academic exchanges, but the core content of the scientific research ability of economics and management graduate students should be reflected in analyzing and solving the practical problems of economic management. Finally, Associate Dean Xiong highlighted the professional journals in the field of finance and taxation and public management, encouraged everyone to develop the habit of reading domestic and international professional literature every day, and shared the current research hotspots in the field of finance and taxation and public management.

The success of this summer camp has played an important role in expanding the influence of the college among outstanding college students nationwide and selecting high-quality students to enter the college for further study.
